Deb KlineWhat are Bach Flower Essences? 38 natural, plant and flower based formulas activate the body's own healing power to promote overall wellness. In liquid drops dispensing form, these individual blended formulas can assist your mental attitude and emotional stamina as you handle the demands of everyday. By creating a formula just for you, your thoughts and feelings regain balance and perspective.

How do I know which Bach Flower Essences to use?

Option 1: Schedule an initial consultation with me. After you complete a questionnaire, I will interview you to see which essences will be included in the best blend for you. Then I will mix a one-month supply of your personal remedy.

Option 2: Pre-register for the Bach Flower Essences Workshop Saturday, February 17th from 1 pm to 3 pm. I will introduce the 38 essences and you will complete a self-diagnosis questionnaire and blend your personal remedy to take home.

Judy Trumpy"Non-diet" Techniques of Intuitive Eating

By Judy Trumpy, RD/LD

  1. Reject the Diet Mentality: Recognize and acknowledge the damage that dieting/restricting food intake causes. It decreases metabolism and increases binges and cravings. It is associated with decreased self-confidence and feelings of failure. Become aware of diet mentality traits such as counting calories, points or fat grams. Forget about being obedient and using your willpower! Learn to enjoy the food you choose to eat.
  2. Honor Your Hunger: Pay attention to hunger cues, the only way your body has to alert you to re-fuel, if only with a small amount of food. If you feel lightheaded, a gnawing stomach, difficulty concentrating, headachy or irritable, and if it's been 4-5 hours since you've last eaten, that's a sure sign you need to eat something. How soon you get hungry is based on what and how much you last ate, and how much physical activity you've had in the meantime. Learning to hear your hunger cues takes time unless you diligently pay attention and then eat rather than ignoring the cues.
  3. Feel your Fullness: Learn to listen to your body's signal that you are nearing fullness or that general, overall feeling of satiety. This is the ultimate step in learning to eat intuitively as it offers the clue to when to stop eating.

Being a member of the "Clean Plate Club" or gauging appetite by the amount of food on your plate may make it difficult to discover when, during eating, you begin to become satisfied. This process may take longer than recognizing true hunger because your body needs considerably more time to recognize fullness cues. If you would like to read more about the process of intuitive eating, go to www.intuitiveeating.org and take the quiz to determine if you are an intuitive eater, and read all 10 intuitive eating principles. Working with a registered dietitian will help you learn healthier eating behaviors in 2007. Call Judy at 233-1139 #15 at no cost, to hear more about Intuitive Eating.

"I was having a bad day, so I went to Wild Women's Weekend and got a Reflexology treatment. I don't usually like to have my feet touched, but Phyllis was very professional, and afterwards my feet felt wonderful!"
